Top 5 Farmers Market Picks
Saturday is the PERFECT day for the farmers market. I’m obsessed with going there. I love being able to support local farmers and everything just tastes so much more fresh!
This time we rode our bikes there. Estela loves trailing behind her daddy and says Wheeeee the whole way.
By now we sort of have our essentials that we get at the farmers market. They have become a staple in our diet.
Curly Kale is a MUST from the farmers market. We get these greens from a couple of friendly organic farmers and have not been disappointed yet. They stay quite firm throughout the week so we don’t have to deal with soggy greens.
2) CHERRY TOMATOES
These are usually the first things we get once we arrive. We love to have something to snack on while we walk around the market, especially after a long bike ride. Estela of course eats half of them. We get the orange cherry tomatoes nearly every time because they are just so sweet!
These guys are one of the main ingredients in my green juices so we stalk up on these. And when you see them priced at 5 for a 1… you get 5 of those things gosh darn it! It’s been a long time since i’ve been able to buy a cucumber at this amazing price. In Utah cucumbers were a dollar each! Yikes! Thank heavens for this farmers market!
4) WHEAT GRASS
My Husband is hooked on this stuff. The benefits are terrific! It has twice the amount of vitamin A than carrots and more vitamin C than oranges. It’s also a blood cleanser! If you are needing to detox your body from the harmful effects of refined sugar, wheat grass is great for cleansing your liver! Who knew this stuff was so great?
Mint leaves are manna from HEAVEN. I absolutely love them in my juices. They add such tasty flavor. And at the market they are only a dollar per bunch! That is an unbelievably good deal! At any grocery store they cost twice that amount for just a few sprigs!
